Riikka Arte
Artist and Performer
Riikka Arte is a dynamic multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant paintings and immersive installations explore the unseen mysteries of life through color, texture, and light. Rooted in a deep connection to the greater energy field of creativity, her work is a spontaneous dance of brushstrokes, blending organic and fantastical themes into multi-layered compositions that bridge material reality and the intangible.
With a fearless approach to experimentation, Riikka combines watercolour, acrylic, oil, ink, and UV paint—often layering these mediums together to create rich, textured surfaces. Her fascination with color, light, and shadow extends beyond painting into collaborative light and installation art projects with her partner, Michael Nurmi. Together, they craft on-site experiences that invite audiences to step inside magical, transformative worlds.
For Riikka, art is not merely a practice but a way of life, a continuous journey of curiosity and exploration beyond societal and artworld norms. Her commitment to sharing these discoveries resonates through a prolific career of solo and group exhibitions, including recent shows such as Quinceañera (2025) and Tropical Paradise (2024), alongside innovative installations at festivals and cultural centers across Finland.
Her work is held in notable public and private collections worldwide, including Aalto University’s Physics Department and collectors in Finland, Costa Rica, the United States, Cuba, and Spain.
Riikka’s education spans Hobart Art School in Tasmania and advanced studies in Art Education in Finland, further enriching her interdisciplinary approach. Her active participation in art societies like the Finnish Light Art Society and cultural initiatives reflects her dedication to nurturing creative communities.
