Alberto Zampieri
Prominent Multidisciplinary Contemporary Artist
Visual Artist / Painter / Sculptor / Installation Artist
Alberto Zampieri, born in Venice in 1970, is a distinguished Italian artist celebrated for his profound connection to Venetian heritage and his ability to capture the timeless essence of Italy through his art. His work masterfully bridges tradition and modernity, offering a fresh perspective on Italian artistry while remaining deeply rooted in cultural and historical depth.
Zampieri graduated from the State Art School in Venice in 1991 and pursued sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice from 1994 to 1998. His artistic journey began with his first solo exhibition in 1999, “Contrario che non è” (Contrary that is not), presented at Villa Errera in Mirano and the Casa della Comunità in Salzano. In 2000, he held “A e il suo negativo” (A and its negative) at Palazzo della Loggia in Noale, marking the start of a collaboration with the Venice Biennale’s organisational team, which lasted until 2015.
Over the years, Zampieri has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions that reveal the evolution of his style toward full artistic Surrealism. Highlights include “Sospensione” (Suspension, 2001) in Santa Maria di Sala, “Mirror” (2004) at S. Vidal Gallery in Venice, “La voce della materia onirica” (2008) in Via Garibaldi, and “Visioni dall’alto” (2015) at Palazzo Da Mula in Murano. His 2016 solo show “Frequenze surreali” (Surreal Frequencies) at Filanda di Villa Romani Jacur in Salzano further cemented his distinct voice in contemporary Italian art.
Zampieri’s artistic exploration has also embraced performance and multimedia, as seen in his “Tangenze” performance and the video “Intersections” (2013–2014), produced during his time at his Marghera studio. More recent exhibitions include “Da Jacopo De Barbari al contemporaneo” (From Jacopo De Barbari to the Contemporary, 2021) at Villa Giustinian-Morosini in Mirano and his current solo exhibition “Da 10 anni di bontà alla stagione di Nichel” (From 10 years of goodness to the Nichel season) at Regina Art Gallery in Venice (2024–2025).
Every brushstroke and sculptural detail in Zampieri’s work is imbued with narrative and symbolism, transporting viewers into a dreamlike world where matter, memory, and imagination converge. His art stands as a tribute to the enduring spirit of Venice while engaging in a dialogue that resonates on a global stage.
