His figurative work, especially his portraits and studies of dancers, is distinguished by its immediacy and vitality. Through asymmetrical compositions and unexpected visual angles, Serguei captures spontaneous gestures and the authenticity of lived moments. His ballet paintings are particularly celebrated for their depiction of both the grace and intensity of movement, revealing the focus, power, and elegance of each performer.
